|
The old town of Limassol is the heart of the
city with its narrow streets radiating out
from the old fishing harbour. The medieval
Limassol castle was the site of a royal
wedding in the Middle Ages between Richard
the Lionheart, King of England, and
Berengaria of Navarre. It now houses the
Cyprus Medieval Museum.
The town has grown in recent years and now covers a 15 kilometres
coastline lined with hotels and apartment
blocks, interspersed with eucalyptus groves
and linked by a promenade popular with
walkers or joggers.
The city’s inhabitants are renowned for their love of fun so not
surprisingly the city’s nightlife is varied.
All sorts of tavernas, discos and clubs are
open all the year round, while beach bars
along the coastal walkway add to the choice.
Visitors join in the Bacchian excesses at
the Wine Festival in September, or have fun
at the Carnival with its fancy dress chariot
parade and parties during Carnival in
February. In summer concerts are held under
the stars in the Greco-Roman theatre of
Kourion. |

The Cyprus Volleyball Federation is proud to host
the Final Round of the Small Countries Division of
the 2012 Women’s Junior European Championships, to
be held in Limassol 6-8 April. The competition
features the teams of Liechtenstein, Luxembourg,
Scotland and the home team of Cyprus.
This section of our website will include news of the
preparations leading up to the event, as well as
daily updates during the competition itself, with
links to live scores, match statistics, photos and
more.
Furthermore, this
website contains a wealth of practical information
for the participating delegations, as well as
visitors for the event. All official documents
published by the organisers will be included here
for downloading.
